In modern days people love to interact with many others and express their thoughts publicly. If they like something or not, protest on anything or so many different things to do; they are choosing different public walls on internet to express these. The people of this generation are gradually getting attracted to different social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare etc. Though it is true that Facebook is the most successful social networking site all over the world on the basis of popularity, visits and web rankings and all, but we can surely say that Twitter will one day soon overtake Facebook. There are very obvious reasons to establish this point. I will discuss about these reasons in this article.
Twitter is a more convenient platform in respect of Facebook on making new connections. You can see 30 or more followers with the help of one click. If you add one connection then you will get these additional connections too, it is up to you whether you will follow them or not. But it can happen they will automatically start to follow you without any approval processes. Hence you will get to see many more connections from them. But in case of Facebook the Facebook friends know each other in real life; this is not the case on Twitter.
Twitter is more secure than the Facebook as twitter does not encourage providing a large amount of personal information of the user. The tweeps only post a photograph, an icon more often, or sometimes a representative image which is not their own followed by a short note about themselves with a link. On the other hand Facebook openly encourage the users to share as much personal information as they can. Thus the privacy is not maintained in Facebook where twitter keeps its user’s profile more private and safe.
The user interface of Twitter is very easy and friendly to use. You just log in, take a quick look towards the micro or mini blogs, and have a glance at other tweets and you log out, that’s it. Where on the other hand, Facebook is getting increasingly complicated and cluttered to use. You sign in; look at the notifications, photos you’re tagged in, regular and continuous updates from other users and information feeds etc. you will be wondering where to concentrate!! And more over the interface of Facebook has changed so drastically that you will be puzzled that actually where your profile wall is. For a long time Facebook has become more stressful rather than a stress buster for its gradual and complicated change of interface.
4. Management Issues
The recent activities of the Facebook’s ownership and management has left all the users literally surprised and disappointed. The conspicuous effort of the Facebook management to get tough to their users has been largely criticized by many users. In recent times they are not listening to the users, or they are interested on what a user want rather than Facebook decides what they want and imposes it to the users. The recent terms and services Facebook provides are all implicitly gone wrong and the very recent changes to the user interface has led to massive disappointment and user complaints. For this newer attitude of like a ‘Big Brother bullying the younger’, many users have already started to delete their accounts.
There are tons of Facebook applications which serve a little to the users; many of them have no value or no point of interest. There are so many applications in Facebook that you may find it hard which one to use. You may not have any interest at the online game applications that Facebook offers or on giving your personal information for a cheap IQ test. But if you consider Twitter, we can definitely say that twitter applications are much more unique and incredibly helpful. If you have already used Tweetdeck, then certainly you will know how much effective it is for the users and its founders too. It has quadrupled the Twitter experience for highly active Tweeps. Another application which is getting popular day by day is the Tweetpic. It is getting attention of the twitter users for its attractive interface and user application.
For all these reasons I have discussed above we can say that Twitter will overtake Facebook by storm, but it is also true that many people are still attached to Facebook and they are not still habituated with Twitter. But the extraordinary activities and development of Twitter will certainly make it as the most used social networking media.
