When your anniversary rolls around, it’s always time to celebrate, but it doesn’t have to be something you spend a great deal of money on. Some people like to go all out and spend a fortune, but not everyone’s in that position. After all, anniversaries shouldn’t be about how much money you spend anyway.
Here are a few ways you can celebrate your anniversary without spending a fortune:
A short trip away
A holiday is a fantastic way to enjoy your anniversary. However, holidays don’t have to break the bank. You can just go away for a few days in the UK if money doesn’t stretch to a more expensive holiday abroad. There are plenty of places around the UK that would be fantastic holiday destinations for just a few days away. You could head back to where you proposed (if it’s in this country) or just somewhere that means something to the both of you. UKbreakaways have plenty of destinations that won’t cost you the Earth.
Recreate one of your favourite memories
No doubt your time together is littered with many precious memories, so you could delve into that catalogue and recreate them, or at least revisit where they happened. This could be in the form of a holiday, as mentioned above, or you could just take a day trip out somewhere. A trip down memory lane can really be a fantastic way to spend your anniversary.
Create a scrapbook
Again, this is a way of taking a trip down memory lane. If you have a load of photos lying around of your time together, then you can collate them together in a scrapbook, and even chart your relationship from the start up until the present. Websites such as Photobox will be able to do this for you online, or you could just buy a scrapbook and do it the old-fashioned way.
A night in at home
If you really want to keep costs low, then you could just spend a night in at home, just the two of you. If you have kids then you could try and find a babysitter so you can spend some quality time together, and then you could cook a nice meal or just get a takeaway if neither of you can be bothered cooking. If you don’t get much time at home together, then this could be a great idea.
Now this sounds a bit of an odd idea, but you could use your anniversary as a time to make some big plans in your life. Perhaps you could use it as a time to move house, plan a big holiday or even have a baby. This bit is the cheap part, however, best start saving for the rest!
