It's definitely a place to start, but really, I still haven't found the surveys that pay out as high as you're talking about. At least, that don't also require you to give your credit card number and purchase "3 items from the Bronze list, 3 items from the Silver, and 3 items from the Gold list" in order to qualify. The best I've earned so far is $14.50 spending many hours over weeks taking surveys.

Where are these high-paying surveys of which you speak? I don't mean any disrespect, I'm actually very curious.

The higher paying survey companies are harder to find. Also you need to have some unique qualities as a consumer. When my wife was pregnant with our son, who is now 2, she was actually contacted by a market research company to participate in a survey specialized towards pregnant women. It was actually an ongoing market research study that lasted several months. They paid her $300 a month. She had to complete a survey that was due every friday online, it took about an hour or so to complete as it was more detailed.

This was an actual market research company as opposed to one of those companies that act as a parked domain for a million affiliate ads. They were the ones that contacted my wife and they were looking for a unique group of consumers. So, these companies do exist. It just takes a bit to seek them out. I believe the company was called something like American Market Research, but I'll have to check with my wife to be sure.

Although this method of making money online can be easy and accessible to all it's no to stable. You can have a great day and receive tens of surveys but some days, weeks or even worst months can go without one survey and thus making no money.

Also, one more problem is that you have to pay attention to scammers that are everywhere and make this kind of website to make you answer questions in surveys while they collect the money.

So although is easy to make money with surveys, it's not a stable revenue.

Hi Alex,
My thought on it is that it's a place to start if you don't have a website and you want to learn a little of how the system works. As you get comfortable with the idea of earning online, you definitely want to branch out so that you have more control over your sources of income.
