The best tip I could give to anybody is to believe you can get the job. Most people who I have interviewed didn't believe they could get the job…and therefore they didn't. The one's I hire are the ones who expect to get the job :-)

This is really helpful, but it would be more helpful if its is more expantiated and explicit.

I think that this is good and well balanced advice for anyone seeking a new position. And I can relate to all of it because after 20 years in the one organization I suddenly had to find a new job. Not so easy nearly everything here was also the advice I received.

I trust that those who need to will take heed of this sound advice. Getting a new position might just be the best thing that ever happened. It was for me even though at the time ‘Having my function replaced’ was a bit hard to take.

Another interview tip is to research the company. Spend an hour or so on their website, find out about their products, see what new things they are doing, etc. Coming into an interview will show that you care more than the minimum requirements. One time I did this and was asking about another job they had posted and was able to find out they were about to overhaul a department which I had experience in. About a month after I was hired they had me move into that department because of the interest I showed.

Absolutely!  Nothing impresses better than a thorough knowledge about the company.  You present yourself as an asset for the company because you showed enough interest to learn more about them.
