What does high speed data transmission stand for?
Well, don’t be confused, it’s the best way I like explaining wordpress blogs and how to make it load faster. Blogging is a nice business model, even though you cannot make money from it overnight (just like every other models), but when you press the right buttons, you would increase your chances of succeeding.
I’ve been blogging for a while and have learned so much about optimization, SEO, social media and content writing. But none of these will make a difference until your blog is friendly with Google. A lot of people struggle to drive organic traffic, without preparing the foundation of it. You can’t go far with a gummy blog, make it light and Google will send you organic traffic on daily basis.
Let’s consider 3 exceptional ways to boost your blog’s load time. I’m sure you’ll experience another side of blogging after reading this. Enjoy it…
1. Clean Up Your SIDEBAR
We all want to make money with our blogs, but that doesn’t mean you should clog your sidebar with 10s of affiliate banner. It’s one of the contributory factors to slow loading blogs. When I started blogging, I joined every affiliate program and started displaying banner on the header, footer and sidebars. Before I knew what was happening, I’ve lost the traffic I used to get.
Google penalized my pages for displaying so many ads. Although, some blogs have a lot of banner ads in them but still load fast. It depends on the platform and the content delivery network used. In my coupon blog that features vmware coupon, Parallels coupon, raxco coupon etc, I decided to clean up my sidebar and that alone increased my conversion rate.
But ideally, use few banner ads on your sidebar. Even on your main blog, reduce the header graphics size; or compress it a bit. You’ll definitely boost your wordpress blog’s speed.
2. Get Rid Of Unused Plugins And Addons
The other day, a blogger friend of mine called and complained that his blog is pretty slow. I quickly asked what he’s been doing lately. Before hanging up, I discovered he’s been downloading free wordpress plugins and filling his database with them. I don’t know about you, but bloggers as a group like free plugins especially the once that talks about security and money making.
If you could take time to check all of your installed plugins, I’m sure you’ve unused and broken ones. Don’t you know they’re taking up space on your database and consequently slowing your blog down?
Get rid of them. And not just that, if a particular plugin suite performs several roles, why install individual plugins. As much as possible, use fewer plugins that are relevant, trust worthy and light.
3. It’s Time To Work On Post Images
I like using beautiful and shiny photos on my posts. I think something happens each time I neglect to use a nice image from Google or Flickr. I’m also subscribed to a premium stock photo network which enables me to use as many photos as possible.
Nevertheless, I’ve come to tell you that photos slow down blog speed. Instead of using large photos on your post, reduce them. Any image that exceeds 400 x 400 is really overstepping boundary.
For me, I don’t use any image that’s more than 300 in width. If it’s, I’ll eventually reduce it before hitting the publish button.
Do you want to access your blog even on slow internet connections? Work on your image. Some people recommend you use a plugin to reduce image color and features but I don’t do that. Plugins are extra weight on wordpress and your database. Why use it?
Simply obey the rules above and don’t forget to give credits on any image you use. If it’s public domain picture, you don’t have to bother about anything.
High Speed Takeaway
Now is the time to improve your organic traffic but you first have to improve your load time. As you do this, the traffic you need will come and generating leads will no longer be a hassle. Work on your wordpress blog today and it will pay your bills tomorrow. See you ahead!
