As an internet marketer your conversion rate is the primary statistic that determines your level of profits or losses. How often do we engage in testing, tweaking, and constantly changing our sales copy, landing pages and even the color of our text to increase the conversion rate to an acceptable amount, an amount that will ensure a higher return on investment (ROI). After all, the higher the conversions the heavier our wallets become. Products with higher conversion rates are more appealing to affiliates and every savvy vendor will know that one sure way of attracting more affiliates is by upping the conversions for his/her product.
If you are seeking that optimal conversion rate that’s going to place a lasting smile on your face then read on. In this article I will discuss the power of the squeeze page that will help boost your conversions by 25% or more.
The Importance of the Squeeze Page
It is estimated that up to 85% of potential customers who click on the “Buy Now” link/button do not follow through with the purchase once they arrive in the order page. Isn’t that an alarming statistic? There is an array of different reasons for an individual to abandon the payment process and some of them include:
- The buyer doesn’t have his/her credit card in hand
- A technical glitch may occur during the payment process
- The payment portal utilized might be unsuitable to the buyer
There are many other scenarios that may lead to a failed purchase, but our focus needs to be on how do we retain these potential customers? The answer is to have a squeeze page that captures your visitor’s details before they are directed to the order page. Some marketers profess that following this model will negatively affect your conversions but I have carried out sufficient tests and the results have disproved this opinion – I have yet to see a reduction in conversions by including a squeeze page.
What Should Be Included in a Squeeze Page?
Experience is the greatest teacher, and what I have learnt from numerous trials is that every presale form should include the following
- Space for the client to fill-in his/her full name and email address
- A seal of approval that legitimizes your business
- A few customer testimonials
- A clear graphic of the product for customers to connect visually to the product
- Instructions on what steps to follow after filling out the presale form
What Should You Do Once You Receive a Lead From a Squeeze Page?
You might have heard of a “hot lead” or a “hungry buyer” in the past, but customers who click on the “buy now” button/link and fill out the squeeze page can be categorized as a “sizzling lead” or a “starving buyer”. You have to respond immediately and preferably using an automatic response system. These customers may still want your product and all you need to do is “follow-up” immediately while they are still “hot” and offer them an incentive, such as a discount or a 2 in 1 deal, to purchase your product. My statistics so far reveal that up to 25% of these customers will respond the second time around.
By not including a squeeze page in the order process you may leave 25% of the profits on the table.

Hi Alex!
Squeeze pages are good ideas, but lately I found a lots of funny names and numbers flooding in email subscription. Even some gurus telling their followers keep separate email account for different purpose so they can easily delete or don't have to spend more time on emails. So my guess is most of emails will go direct to recycle bin in near future. Email marketing will get much more tougher by days. What's your take on that?
I keep separate email accounts just as an organization tool. I think most others do the same. It doesn't necessarily mean that they intend to delete all the emails in those accounts, it's just a way to filter the emails. My guess is that they are more likely to read email that's in the in-box of a separate account than if they just marked it as spam.
