Over the course of a year, I’ve experimented with many different programs that offer paid twitter opportunities. However, I’ve found only a couple of methods to make money on twitter that are satisfactory to me. Over time, I’ve narrowed down the methods I like based on reliability, pay out rates, responsiveness to inquiries, and of course effectiveness.
The other day I got an email from Sponsored Tweets to let me know that I got paid for a single tweet that I sent out:
Intuit Quickbooks is one of the best software accounting solutions available for your business. QuickBooks Pro can easily organize your books and free up your time to do other things. QuickBooks Pro 2013 strikes the perfect balance between functionality and ease of use that new users can master quickly.

It reminded me that perhaps it’s a good time to talk about how I make money on twitter.
Here are a few ways that I make money on twitter:
Advertise with Sponsored Tweets
I have to start with Sponsored Tweets. They just paid me! Actually, I like sponsored tweets mainly because I can set my own prices for a single tweet. This way, my payouts aren’t based solely on the number of click throughs. Currently, I have my tweets priced at $3.00 for each tweet. As you can see, advertisers do pay that much for a single tweet.
The payout threshold is a bit higher than I like at $50. However, I am slowly getting there. Also, they allow you to cash out sooner for a $2.00 fee. Frankly, I’m very ambivalent about that practice, as I find it odd that they want you to pay a fee to get paid money that you earned. But one can avoid the fee by waiting for the $50 payout.
Overall, I am earning at a steady rate on Sponsored Tweets.
Advertise with Mylikes
Mylikes is my favorite affiliate program for making money on twitter. They are also my highest monthly twitter earner. I earn anywhere between $25 to $50 a month with Mylikes.
They are a traditional pay per click advertiser, however I believe they are one of the best in the business of tweeting pay per click ads. Mylikes always appears to have quality advertisers and good pay per click rates. At the moment, I get up to $0.44 per click.
The other thing is that they do allow me to earn the first click by clicking through to the advertiser myself. This encourages me to learn a little about the advertiser before I send out their tweet.
Finally, they pay out every Friday at a $2.00 threshold. At that rate, I’ve been getting paid regularly every Friday. It’s a great way to make money on twitter!
If you decide to sign up for Mylikes, make sure you link all your other social media accounts as well. It gives more opportunities to earn.
Tweeting with Adfly
Most people think of making money on twitter as simply tweeting out paid to click ads. That is simply one method to make money on twitter, however it’s not the only method. I actually stick to Sponsored Tweets and Mylikes as my traditional advertising tweets, but I do make money on twitter in other ways as well.
Currently, I’ve found a very effective passive income source from using adfly.
Adfly is an affiliate program that utilizes it’s own url shortening service to add an advertisement whenever someone clicks on the link. Then you get paid for each click. This may sound similar to the other pay per click ads, but the power of adfly lies in the ability to put the ad in every link.
I’ve found a very effective method for utilizing the adfly service to make money with twitter:
This is very easy to do, just copy the adfly api. You will find the link under tools and api documentation:
Then copy the link and paste it into your dlvr shortening service, which you can add under settings:
After you do this, just use the following steps to start making money on twitter:
- I’ve found that you can easily create multiple niche twitter accounts. It’s easiest if you have a gmail account as you can use a single account to create multiple twitter accounts by simply using your gmail address with a “+” and any word you like after your username. So, I just name the account after the niche like so: “[email protected]”
- Then I use dlvr.it to route related rss feeds from around the internet to that twitter account.
- Start following people in your niche on your twitter accounts using either twiends or tweepi. (try not to add over 100 people a day or you skirt a possible ban)
You can use the above method to make as many twitter accounts as your imagination permits. I try to avoid following too many people at a time to avoid banning, however if you do get banned, just create a new twitter account using the above method.
Following this method, I am earning a very steady income from my twitter accounts through adfly.
Utilize a Job Board with your Twitter Account
I have a twitter account dedicated to job seekers. On that account I route all the new job offers from my job board. One of the reasons I really like using the Donanza Job Board is that it has it’s own rss feed that is actively updated whenever there is a new job opportunity. This way, I can use twitterfeed to send new job updates to my twitter account. Whenever a job seeker sees a job they like and they apply, the employers will pay me some affiliate revenues whenever they hire someone.
When I route my job board rss feed, I prefer twitterfeed over dlvr.it because twitterfeed appears to be more accurate in tracking clicks.
This is an excellent way to let job seekers know about new opportunities and advertise your Donanza Job Board.
I know there are several other ways to make money on twitter. However, these are the most effective methods that I’ve found. They are very passive methods that create a steady income stream for me. Do you have methods that are working for you? How are you earning through your twitter account?
