We all like the finer things in life but sometimes you just can’t make the pennies stretch far enough to allow for treats and extras. But have no fear! There are plenty of ways that you can be on a budget and still afford to have a few luxuries, plus, you might even save yourself some money!

Now I know that seems impossible but all it takes is a bit of savvy shopping and keeping an eye out for the best deals. Here are a few tricks of the trade to make sure you don’t have to go without.

Cut out those coupons!

We’ve all seen the American television programme Extreme Couponing and whilst the American system allows for more savings than you’ll get in the UK it doesn’t mean that collecting your coupons is a waste of time.

Cutting out coupons and vouchers could save you loads of cash on your weekly shop or allow you to purchase a treat item at a discounted price.

Loyalty cards at the ready!

There are so many shops that offer clubcards or points cards these days it seems silly not to have one for your favourite shop or supermarket, especially as they are free.

You could use points to buy future items or get vouchers for days out or dinners for two.  They cost nothing and could save you loads of money. Just remember to swipe your card every time you buy something, even if you only spend a few pounds.

Join a money saving club!

So many people are looking for new ways to save money that websites such as Frugaled and My Family Club have launched to bring their members the best deals and vouchers for goods and services.

Alternatively if you’re saving for a special occasion such as Christmas then a club like Studio will help your money go further so you can really splash the cash during the Festive season.

Shop around!

Joining a money saving club will make sure you get the best deals, but they won’t find a deal for everything you purchase. Taking the time to shop around before you part with your money could save you more than just a couple of pennies.

Whether you’re looking for a new fridge, a mobile phone contract, or you want to change your electricity supplier, it’s worth having a look around for the best deal rather than just going with the first company you find.

It’s competition time!

Ever think you’d love to win a load of cash or get sent on a luxury holiday? Of course you have and if you want to win you’ll have to play. Entering television or Online Competitions costs little or nothing and you could be in with the chance of winning some amazing prizes.

You don’t have to spend a lot of time or money entering these competitions but they can be a great way to get the luxuries or cash you really want.
