What should you do to attract more traffic to your blog? Post regularly? Create a content plan? Share your posts on social media? All of these things might work, but only if your content is good enough to attract more readers.

I’ve heard stories of people who update their blogs three times a week, receiving a steady but small traffic growth as a result. I’ve also heard of people who update their blogs one or two times a month, which results in an amazing traffic growth because many of their posts become viral. Of course, such high-quality content is hard to create, but you’ll be able to do so with the help of the following tips.

1. Invest Time into Bigger and More Detailed Posts.

It’s true that people prefer smaller posts to bigger ones; however, it’s still hard to resist a big, interesting, and high-quality content. A perfect big post:

– gives enough quality information about a topic;

– includes a lot of useful resources;

– includes images and infographics (ideally unique ones).

Of course, such type of posts is hard to write as they require a lot of thorough research as well as some time. However, you don’t have to write them too often: one post a month will be enough.

2. Less but Better.

While regular blog updates are without a doubt important for your business, they shouldn’t affect the quality of your content. There’s no need to update your blog two times a week if you fail to provide posts that are well-written and interesting to the readers.

I recommend focusing on the quality first: pay attention to how much time it takes you to write a high-quality blog post, and then adjust the schedule in accordance with it. If writing such posts takes too much time, consider adding another category to your blog: the one that requires content that is easier to create. For example, you can share some interesting videos with your readers once a week or create a weekly inspiration series of posts. While sharing such content doesn’t require a lot of time and effort, it actually helps you to increase traffic as such posts are usually appreciated by the audience.

3. Offer Something That Others Cannot.

If you’ve been blogging about something for a while, you probably had become quite experienced in the niche. In that case, you have to know about topics and trends of this niche that deserve more in-depth research and exploration. If you manage to become the person offering these things to your audience, you’ll definitely attract more traffic. Plus, you’ll be able to build a name and reputation for yourself, proving yourself as one of the niche experts.

Another useful thing to do in order to build more traffic is to write posts that answer very specific questions in your niche. For example, if you have a blog about graphic design and illustration, you can write a post “How to start working with a brush pen?” Yes, this post seems a bit too specific, but that’s a good thing. It will attract people who’ve been searching for an answer to this question on Google or on other search engines – and, believe me, there are quite many of them.

4. Create Unique Content.

Maybe you are an experienced photographer who can create an Adobe Lightroom tutorial. Maybe you are a graphic designer, able to come up with your own infographics. Either way, you should use your skills to offer something really unique, useful, and shareable. Infographics, videos, how-to and DIY tutorials suit this description the best.

5. Write List Blog Posts.

Despite the fact that this type of posts can be hard to create (especially if it’s top 30 or top 50), the audience loves them. So many viral posts are the list ones: they catch attention quickly, they are easy and quick to read, and they allow people to learn more about things. So, why don’t you try offering some of these posts to your audience each month and looking how they react?

You can follow all these advice or choose only one or two you like. Either way, don’t forget to include it in your content plan. Basically, a content plan is what allows you to get a clear vision of how your blog will look like next month (or next few months). If you want to make your blog’s content really diverse and interesting, you have to select different topics and to schedule them accordingly.

I hope that these tips will help you attract more traffic to your blog and impress your readers with content that is both interesting and unique. If you too have some tips and stories that you want to share, please do so in the comment section below.
