First of all this is not a list post. If you are looking for a list of all the great posts during the week or month, etc… There are quite a few blogs that do a round up of great reads, of which there are many. As a start you may want to check out Thu’s blog at blogginfor dot info does a great weekly roundup. In this post, I want to introduce you to a spotlight blog that I feel gives something particularly innovating and influential for the community. It’s not the only blog out there that you should read, but this one should definitely be in your go to list of blogs amongst others. I’m talking about The Blog Tyrant.

What’s innovative about this blog?

Head over and take a look at this blog. You’ll notice that it’s a fairly simple themed blog, focusing on content. It’s also a recently created blog with about 12 posts. But the content immediately captures your attention. This blog does a couple of things against the grain that really proves a point that you can be successful in different ways.

When you get a moment, read the Tyrant’s About Page. You know what you’ll find missing? There is no real biographical information about the Blog Tyrant. He tells you that he runs successful blogs. From his writing style, you can tell that he is no stranger to blogging. But he veils his identity in mystery. Most bloggers will tell you that the best way to build a successful blog is to talk about yourself. You’ll find many blogs reveal personal information about the author of the blog to build rapport. Right from the start, the Blog Tyrant does something different to catch the imagination.

The other thing the Blog Tyrant does really well is he focuses on extremely compelling content over all else. While this isn’t truly different from the advice you get from other blogs, he takes it to the limit. Just read his two part 7000+ word posts on how to blog. Most bloggers may break up a 2000 word post into parts, he takes this primer and essentially writes an ebook in two posts. When you look at his other posts, you can see that all his articles are along the same vein. None of those short 2-3 paragraph posts that give quick how to’s, he goes all out with the information that he presents. If you take a look at the number of his comments, you can see immediately that he accomplishes his writing to great effect.

There’s a subtle point here that everyone should notice when they read through his blog. One is that the content is lengthy and compelling to the extreme. Each post could be the beginnings of an e-book by themselves. But as you read these posts, also note the posting frequency. He doesn’t post every day or even every week, nor does he date his posts or keep a listed archive. Each post is a standalone read by itself with a posting frequency that is spread out. How many blogs have you read that gives you the advice to wait a week or more between posts? Probably none. Most will give the advice that frequent posting is the way to build traffic. While more times than not, this is true, Blog Tyrant is able to do the opposite and still gain an incredible following.

The Blog Tyrant choses to walk the path not taken. Yet he shows that this can be another way to build a successful blog. While there are many great blogs out there, The Blog Tyrant gives a great example that there is more than one way to blogging success. In a world where actions speak louder than words, The Blog Tyrant really show you that content really is king.

I'm gone through most of the post there and always wondered the richness of content.

Another thing as you have noted down how it chooses the different path than most of the established ones, one more thing I notice is – the comments are closed after some days. Don't you think it feels bad when somebody discovers the post after some time and finds his voices are blocked! 🙁

    Thanks for the write up!

I'm glad you like the site. I put a lot of effort into the posts so its nice to hear someone enjoys them.

As for the comment thing, none of the posts have closed comments except one. I wonder if there is perhaps some other issue there?

    Let me know.

I am certainly heading over to check it out. I am a big fan of marquee content. I post daily myself (and do try for some long solid posts). But I would prefer reading 1 long post a week, that really has content and really actionable items over lots of little blog posts that just hint at information.
