Do you have all your blogging tools together for traveling? Invariably, when you are running a blog, you will be taking your blogging on location. After all, you might be traveling for the holidays visiting friends or family. When you are on the go, your blog doesn’t have to go stale. There are some great blogging tools for traveling that can keep your blog humming along even when you are out of town.
Here are my favorite top blogging tools for traveling:
My iPad 2
This is my favorite all around device. When I am looking at top blogging tools for traveling, this is my number one stop. It’s small. It’s versatile. It’s awesome. I would say that out of the box, the ipad is more of a consumption device than a productivity device, but with a few accessories and apps, you can make it perfect.
This has become relegated to a backup for my ipad, however it still comes in handy when my ipad’s not available. If you don’t have an ipad, then a laptop computer will do in a jiffy. Before I got an ipad, this was top blogging tool for traveling.
This may seem redundant to the ipad, but I can use my iphone for completely different use cases. This is particularly true because I have a wifi only iPad, so I use my iphone when there’s no wifi around. The iPhone is good for quickly checking and moderating your comments and checking on the stats of your blog. When you need to do blog related things, but don’t need to write a full fledged post, most of the time something like an iphone will do.
Blogsy for the iPad
This is my favorite app for blogging on the ipad. Like I was saying earlier, you need a few apps to make your iPad a production device. If you are blogging on the go, Blogsy is the best app for writing posts on the iPad. I would say this is amongst my top must have blogging tools for traveling if you have an ipad.
Bluetooth Keyboard for iPad
Ok, so the ipad isn’t perfect right out of the box, but it comes close for a tablet device. Some people may feel perfectly comfortable typing on the glass screen, however, I love having a physical keyboard for my typing needs. A bluetooth keyboard makes the iPad the perfect device for me. I think the choice for a style of keyboard is highly personal. Each person likes different styles and hates others. I am perfectly fine with my bluetooth keyboard that comes with my folio case. It’s a smaller form factor and has rubberized keys. Some people don’t like that, but I like the fact that the keyboard can’t scratch my screen when It’s closed and I’ve adapted fine to the form factor. In any case, if you plan to do a lot of writing on your iPad, this is the way to go.
Ok, I’m keeping this a short list as I am blogging on the go while traveling. Yes, I am blogging on my iPad, using Blogsy and my bluetooth keyboard. I bet you couldn’t tell the difference. That’s the point. I usually wake up before the rest of my family. So it’s the perfect time to do a quick blog post over my morning cup of coffee before everyone else gets up and we head out for our holiday travel plans. I could only do this with the right blogging tools for traveling.
A Final Tip
If you don’t have access to these blogging tools for traveling or you are going to be someplace without any internet access, you can also plan ahead and write a few posts before you leave. You can then schedule your posts to automatically publish. This takes a bit of planning ahead and a little more time spent writing multiple posts in a single session, but it can help immensely to keep your blog up to date.
