3 Reasons Why Your Website Is Not Ranking

So your website is not ranking which means your business is suffering. When your business suffers you suffer. I would like to help stop all the suffering right now. If you are not an SEO expert then there are some things that you might not know, but need to know if you are going to manage your website by yourself.

If you want your rankings to increase then you need to read this post! Here are the 3 most common reasons why your website is not ranking…

Cruddy Links

Link building is an art form. Just like with anything, there is a right way and a wrong way to link build. Google has done a really good job of figuring out who is abusing link building and cracking down on those bad linking practices. If you are not up-to-speed then you may not even realize that Google is punishing you because of bad links.

Weak Content

Content marketing is a powerful way to increase your rankings. If you are unfamiliar with the practice and aren’t utilizing it then you are missing out on big opportunities. Content marketing is when you create a piece of content (article, blog, guest blog post) and pitch it to a website. They like it, post it and you get a link back for your hard work.

So maybe this is what your marketing strategy is missing, or maybe you’re thinking to yourself, “yeah, I know all about content marketing and guest blog posting, but I still get no results…” If this is you, then you might be either 1. Abusing the practice, or 2. Just doing a bad job at it.

Here is what you want to do:

  • Write quality content
  • Write relevant content
  • No sales pitches
  • Link out to other authoritative websites
  • Add images
  • Post to sites with high domain authority and page rank

Poor Onsite Optimization

Maybe you have great links and you have a great content marketing strategy, but your rankings still are not where they should be. It may be time to take a step back and look at where your links and content are pointing users back to. That’s right, your website may be the reason why your rankings are in turmoil.

Onsite optimization is crucial for an online marketing strategy and cannot be overlooked. You want to make sure that your pages are indexed correctly, all the tabs are labeled appropriately and working and make sure it looks good.

Here are some things to keep in mind for onsite optimization:

  • Meta tags
  • Meta description
  • Keyword density
  • Sitemap
  • Page content

A lot of people are so close to having their website rank well in the search engines, but have just one or two things holding them back. Most of the things that I listed above are easy fixes, but just because something is an easy fix doesn’t mean that you will see the results happen in the same instant that you fixed them. SEO is tricky, so if you are not super confident in what you are doing, then you might want to think about hiring someone to take the burden off of you.
