6 Reasons Why You Should Take A Job Even If You’re Scared

You have spent countless hours sending your resume to hundreds of companies. You managed to land some interviews and now someone has offered you a job. You’ve done the hard part, yet for some reason you are scared to go into work on your first day. We’re going to look at why it’s okay to be scared and why you need to take the job.

Something new is exciting

How do you feel when you try something new? You’re always a little nervous because it’s new to you, but it’s also very exciting. After you come home and sit down at the end of the day you’re usually glad that you did it because you enjoyed yourself. If you’re scared to walk into your new job on the first day, part of the reason is definitely because the excitement of something new is making you very nervous.

Nobody is better than you

You will become the best employee in the world and you have to believe that. Some people you work with will be smarter than you, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If you surround yourself with smart people their genius will rub off on you. There is no reason to be afraid of not being the smartest person in the room. It doesn’t mean that anyone is a better person than you, so just walk into work on the first day and be prepared to learn from them.

What is the worst that can happen?

If you walk into work and mess up you won’t get sent to jail. Nobody will kill you or harm your family. The worst thing that can happen is that you’ll get fired, or you might decide never to go back. If you don’t like your job but the company don’t want you to leave there is nothing they can do to keep you as long as you serve your notice. I’m sure you’ll agree it doesn’t seem so daunting now that you know you’re not locked into anything.

You’re qualified for the job

Are you fully qualified for the job? Of course you are, even if you don’t have any fancy qualifications or enough years of experience. You sent your resume in just like everyone else and you were chosen instead out of all the candidates. Your soon-to-be employer thinks you are good enough for the job, so that means you’re qualified. Nobody walks into work on the first day and feels like they’ve already been there for a few years. You will feel qualified as soon as you settle in.

You will be very proud of yourself

Do you know how many people walk into a new job with complete confidence? The number is probably very low and people will be scared even if they don’t want to admit it. Think about how proud you will feel after you make it through the first day without so much as a scratch? You will be very proud of yourself and it will mean the second day will be easy. You won’t feel scared in the slightest because the hard work is done.

You will grow as a person

The last reason is something that will stay with you for the rest of your life. Once you overcome your fears it will change you as a person. You will become more confident and it means you will have a better future. You just need to walk in on the first day and the rest will take care of itself. Try to remember that every confident person wasn’t born that way. They had to go through difficult situations to become the people they are today and so do you.
