Generation F is a term that is now commonly used for the youths of today that are growing up with the notion that social networking sites are part of everyday life. Gone are the days when people go out to social clubs and other such groups to socialize is this simple fact the problem to all the anti-social behavior that goes on in the world today, or is it simply an excuse we give ourselves for acting out of turn?
Suspicious to not be on Facebook
Psychiatrists all over the world are now coming to the conclusion that people who are not signed up for an account on Facebook are suspicious and should be watched. With the world changing and everything revolving around the social networking sites it is not uncommon for these thoughts to go around. It is said that up to a massive 90% of employers now check Facebook accounts to ascertain the type of person they are going to be hiring, so it is becoming more and more apparent that people should be online with this website and get more involved with the rest of the world, otherwise they may be deemed as suspicious and unemployable. It is fast becoming the everyday norm, with many people who don’t want to conform being left in the dust without a job, and a social life.
The pressures of psychological Disorders caused by Facebook
The website known as Facebook is also coming under attack from another point of view that many share. Many members of the website are developing psychological disorders due to the fact that they spent most of their waking days on the website talking to people and connecting with the rest of the world. This is due to the fact that the social element of body language and posture are being removed from the equation leading many people to be unable to communicate effectively or have aggressive tendencies because they cannot accurately pinpoint what a person is saying just by reading their body language.
More and more young people are being subjected to the lack of this basic skill because of the use of social networking sites and it can lead to narcissistic tendencies, anti-social behavior, group bullying or harassment of one or more people through the internet and of course an ever glaring issue, lower grades in school.
The general distraction that this type of socializing causes along with the ease of access that young people have to it is becoming an increasing worry in the education department as young people are spending the majority of their time on the internet talking with people until all hours of the morning and not getting any school work done. Like an addiction young people are drawn to the site as they would be drawn to a computer game and this can lead to a very low attention span on anything but the use of a social networking site. One of the solutions to this would be to create educational applications for the Facebook users so they can socialize and learn at the same time, but is this something that the company would think to look at in the future?
The bottom line of this is that Facebook is, in more ways than one, creating a generation of young people that have no clue how to socialize outside of the networking site. More and more antisocial behavior is creeping into the youths of today and many people are wishing that people would go out and talk to others in ways that they used to.
