How to Entertain Your Child For Free

This was taken in Amsterdam. I was having a beer at an outdoor cafe and taking pictures of passers by when I noticed these children.

It’s never easy to be a parent but it can be fun to hang out with your little ones and letting them have fun. However, it is a fact that most children have a very short attention span and they easily move from one thing to another. If you are running out of ways to keeping your kids busy, here are a few things you can try and a few tips on how to entertain your child.

Make games close to reality – Kids are full of imagination and they see things differently. All you have to do is join them in seeing your living room as a jungle, or work with them like a spy on a special mission. You have to be creative and use your imagination as well.

Check out the library –  You may find this unusual but kids are actually fond of reading story books full of adventures, activities and even bed time stories.

Head to the Zoo – Your kids will surely enjoy seeing different kinds of animals. Not only will this be a fun activity for them but it can also be educational.

Go to the local pet store – Kids will enjoy playing with the puppies and of course it’s free.

Visit the local park – This is a great place to let your child play all they want and again, you don’t have to spend a penny. You can even invite some of your friends so that your child will have someone to play with.

Draw – Get some chalk or crayons and draw on the pavement. Let both of your imagination run free, you will bond together with your child in a deeper yet fun way.

If the weather is good outside, take your child out to fly a kite –  Let them try flying it and they will surely not want to go back inside anymore. If you don’t have one, you can just look for kite making tutorials online and create one yourself.

Go to the beach – Kids love playing in the beach and they love to swim as well. All you have to do is bring some food to avoid spending more on the beach and you’re all set.

Work on a puzzle – Puzzles are fun and it is also mentally challenging to kids. It will take some time for them to solve it and your kids will surely be occupied while they’re working on finishing it.

Go camping at your backyard –  You don’t necessarily have to go out to the deep forests to experience the wilderness. Set up your own tent at your backyard and start your own little bonfire; toast a few marshmallows and you have the perfect night with the kids.

Play a sport together – No matter what sport they’re interested in and whether you’re good in that certain sports, they will not care as long as you play with them.

Bring them to work – If for example you work in a bank, you can teach them a thing or two about checking their credit report and score and why they should do a credit score check. Just keep in mind that you have to explain it to them in a way that they would understand easily.

There are a lot more that you and your child can do without spending tons of money. You can have a picnic, play board games, go to the mall etc. You can also talk to them and ask them what they want to do to.
