Making your website more user friendly in a day may seem initially like a daunting task. You may think that you do not know where to begin. Not to worry! There are some very easy steps you can take that will enhance the ease of use in your website for others. You need to know what to look for. Here we will tell you all the common problems a site can have, and how to easily fix them. Let’s get started!
A website should grab the viewers’ attention, but not so much so that it becomes overwhelming. Too many bright colors’, pictures to look at and many different fonts can distract a reader. Color should be chosen carefully. It depends on the website, but generally speaking, you want to choose a color that will be easy to read against the text on the site. The text should be a simple font, such as Arial, or Times New Roman. If you want to add interest with the text, try using in in the Headings or sub headings of the website. By simply changing this, you will create more interest for your visitors, thereby improving the usability.
#2: Is your website easy to navigate through?
It may be that when people go to your site they have difficulty finding the information they need. Making clear readable buttons will make it easier to find. You should get another person who has never seen the website to look through it.
They may find easy tweaks needed to improve the site, such as broken link. Ask for their honest opinion of the site, how it looks, but also if they find it easy to use. Gather their ideas for improvements in a list, make the changes and then get them to surf though it again. A second opinion is always helpful when making corrections.
A good website should always have a good Frequently Asked Questions section. When visitors go to your site, they will most certainly have questions about what you are offering to them, whether it is a service, or if they simply would like to know more about the subject matter. Again, this is something where you should get a second opinion as to what those answered questions should be.
4#: Easy to Contact
You should be easy for the user to contact in case they have questions. There should be a contact section that is clear. If you choose to have only email as your method to contact, you should be diligent in checking it often so that you will gain a good standing with your users.
#5: Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a free service offered by Google. This will track your users, and you will be able to determine how your visitors found you. You will know by looking at the information what your focus should be to improve the elements on you site.
You should be selective also when choosing what ads do go onto your site. They should be relevant information that relates to the subject matter that you have. lf you have AdSense already with Google, you can make sure that they are for your target audience by making a few minor selections.
So there you have it! If you do these simple tasks, you will be well on your way to having a site easy to use. It will be eye pleasing, and viewers will be drawn in. Visitors will have no trouble finding what they are looking for. You will be able to track your users for future developments; and advertisements will have their place of relevance to your topic. Your website has better usability already!
