That might make you think that you should sign up for the smallest plan possible. But that’s also a financial mistake. When you go over the monthly limits of your contract you’ll have to pay extra fees for the extra services that you use, and those extra fees are expensive. Choosing a plan that’s too small will result in huge monthly bills simply from all the extra charges that you incur. So, you need a plan that’s just right. 3 Mobile Deals for Data Users…

Whilst rates for calling and texting are fairly similar between mobile operators, rates for data aren’t. Data is usually the most expensive part of a calling plan. So, if you’re a big mobile data user you might want to check out 3 mobile deals. There are two great things about 3 mobile deals for mobile internet users. The first is that 3 offers the lowest data prices on the market. The second is that 3 does not employ a fair usage policy. A fair usage policy is used by many companies that advertise unlimited data, and they mean that the operator reserves the right to throttle or slow down your internet connection if they think that you’re using too much data. That, of course, means that the plan isn’t really unlimited at all. But 3’s unlimited plans really are unlimited, there’s no fair usage policy enacted at all. Go SIM Only Rather than Incentive…

Operators offer two kinds of contracts, called SIM only and Incentive contracts. They both offer calling plans and SIM cards, but an incentive contract also gives you a new mobile phone, generally for free. But… these phones aren’t free at all. If you compare the monthly cost of an incentive contract and the monthly cost of a SIM only contract when both contracts have the same calling plan, you’ll see that the incentive contract is much more expensive. That’s the extra cost that you’re paying for your “free” phone. And, if you do the math and add up all those extra costs for the duration of your contract, you’ll find that you’re paying much more than the retail price of the phone. Sure, an incentive contract is great if you need a phone and don’t have the cash to pay for it right now, but you don’t end up saving money, you end up spending more. So, if you have an older phone, or you have the money to buy a phone up front, you should sign a SIM only contract whenever you have the chance.

Switch Operators…

If you have a contract with a mobile operator the chances are that if you resign a contract that second contract will cost you more than your first contract did. This is because most operators reserve their best special offers for new customers, to get new people signing contracts with them. They rely on the fact that once you’ve signed a contract once you’ll resign, out of laziness or habit. That means you can often get much better deals by simply switching operators when your contract is over. And, you even get to keep your phone number, so you don’t need to worry about switching operators and then having to tell all your contacts about your new number. Should you want to keep your old number when switching operators you’ll have to call your current operator before you cancel your service and request your PAC code. The operator is required to give you this code for free within two business days of you asking. You then give the PAC code to your new operator when you switch services, and they’ll make sure that you keep your number. Be aware though that a PAC code only has a thirty day validity period, so you’ll have to complete the switch within that time period, or you’ll need to go back and start the whole process again.

Call Customer Service…

It’s a little known fact that mobile operator customer service agents have an awful lot of flexibility when it comes to offering perks to customers. You’ll need to be polite, because agents don’t have to give you anything. But if there’s an honest problem with your service, or you’ve seen a much better offer on a similar plan to your with another operator, it can be worth calling up the customer service hot line for your operator and telling them about your problem. Similarly, if you are thinking about switching operators and you call to cancel your contract you might find that your current operator offers you an even better deal to stay with them.
